Sudhanshu Pandey the senior civil servant of food and public distribution, ministry of consumer affairs stated a statement in a recent press conference that India has sufficient grain stock and the government might sell wheat & rice in the open market.
As per the latest data of Exim Trade Data, Food inflation increased by 8.60 percent in September 2022. And the reason for boosting retailer food prices is the high demand & value of cereals and vegetables.
In March, India bans the supplies of staples because of sudden changes in the temperature which harm the wheat crop. So just for precaution, India saves grain food stock for their 1.4 Billion people.
As per Sudhanshu Pandey, till the next fiscal year on April 1st, India will be hoped to store 11.3 Million tonnes of wheat, and 23.4 Million tonnes of rice.
