According to Indian Customs Export Data Year Wise and statistics issued by the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics, India’s exports to China increased by 21% to USD 22.9 billion in the 2021 calendar year, while imports increased by 49% to USD 87.5 billion.
Bilateral commerce between the two nations increased by 42.2% year on year to USD 110.4 billion in 2021 from USD 77.7 billion in 2020.
In 2021, India’s exports to China increased by 33.9 percent as compared to 2019. Despite the COVID-19 outbreak, India’s exports to China have increased steadily over the previous three years.
In 2019, India’s exports to China totaled USD 17.1 billion. In 2020, it increased to USD 19 billion, and in 2021, it increased to USD 22.9 billion.
According to India Import Data, India’s imports from China, on the other hand, have decreased from USD 68.4 billion in 2019 to USD 58.7 billion in 2020. However, by 2021, it had risen dramatically to USD 87.5 billion.
In 2019, India’s overall trade with the United States was the highest, valued at USD 90.1 billion (11.1% of total trade), compared to USD 85.5 billion for China (share 10.5 per cent).
China overtook the United States as India’s greatest commercial partner in 2020, with a stake of 12.0%, whilst the United States had a share of 11.7 percent.
With a value of USD 112.3 billion in 2021, the United States has reclaimed the top spot as India’s goods trade partner, while India’s trade with China was USD 110.4 billion in the same year based on India export-import data year wise.
